Forget Stranger Things and the '80s – the '90s are now where it's at in a first look at Netflix's new series Everything Sucks!.

And the high-school set show looks like a massive nostalgia-fest, with the first trailer taking us back to 1996 – a time of skipping CDs and those TVs on wheels that meant a quick nap in class.

Netflix has also announced a release date, with Everything Sucks! dropping on February 16 – that's less than a month away.

While we're yet to find out if the show will actually be any good, the synopsis sounds promising.

Set in the suitably titled town of Boring, Oregon (it's a real place, look it up), the series revolves around the high school's two groups of "nerdy-edgy" outsiders – the A/V Club and the Drama Club. They join forces to get through the everything-sucksiness of high school.

The cast is led by Peyton Kennedy (American Fable), Jahi Winston (The New Edition Story), Patch Darragh (Boardwalk Empire) and Claudine Nako (Grimm).

Created by Ben York Jones (Like Crazy) and Michael Mohan (Save the Date), the show will run for 10 half-hour episodes.

Let's just hope that everything doesn't suck, although given that Netflix has a stellar hit rate with original series, we have a good feeling about this one.

Everything Sucks! will drop on Netflix on February 16.
