Netflix comedy Friends from College cancelled after two seasons

Friends From College has been officially cancelled by Netflix.

The comedy series ran for two seasons on the streaming platform, and on Monday (February 18) the show's co-creator Nicholas Stoller announced the sad news on Twitter.

"Friends from College will not be returning for a third season," he wrote.

"Thanks to everyone who watched it. Happy Presidents’ Day!"

The comedy show followed the lives of a group of friends as they dealt with old friendships and tragicomic situations all while trying to balance their adulthood in New York City.

In a statement, Netflix expressed its gratitude to the show's creators and cast members for their commitment and hard work.

"Friends From College will not return for a third season," Netflix said.

"We're grateful to creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco for creating a wise, funny and supremely relatable show.

"We also want to thank the hard-working crew, and we raise a glass to the amazingly talented cast including Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Savage, Cobie Smulders, Nat Faxon, Annie Parisse, Jae Suh Park and Billy Eichner."

The news comes just after Netflix decided to cancel two other shows – Marvel's The Punisher and Jessica Jonesbut the streamer has promised that Jessica Jones' third season will be released later this year as originally planned.

Other shows that have been recently axed include Marvel TV series Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
