Netflix has confirmed that Money Heist's fourth season will premiere on April 3, 2020.

The Spanish series, which in its original language is called La Casa de Papel, confirmed its new premiere date in an announcement video released online on Monday (December 9), teasing the returning characters alongside its tagline: "Let the chaos begin."

Money Heist is certainly one of the streamer's biggest hits, as Netflix has previously revealed that the programmed is its most-watched international show.

Moreover, the service recently unveiled a list of its most popular original shows ever – and the Spanish show landed in the third spot, which is pretty impressive.

According to official figures released by Netflix in October, Money Heist recorded 44 million views at the time, surpassing the streaming service's other hit original series like You and Sex Education. Ranking abover Money Heist were only Stranger Things at 64 million views and The Umbrella Academy at 45 million views.

Money Heist follows the story of criminal mastermind El Profesor (Álvaro Morte) as he planned one of the biggest heists in history – to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain.

The Professor recruited eight thieves to help him achieve his plan, and the series' first two seasons centred on the attack on the Royal Mint of Madrid.

The third season, which was released in July, picked up two to three years after the heist and followed the surviving robbers as they were forced out of hiding and began planning a new assault on the Bank of Spain.

The crime drama series was mainly filmed in Madrid, Spain, but part of its third season was also filmed in Panama, Thailand and Florence.

Money Heist seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix now, with season 4 premiering on April 3, 2020.
