Netflix is going all out for this year’s holiday season, promising four new original Christmas movies - including a musical starring Dolly Parton.

Parton takes a lead role in Christmas on the Square, in which she stars alongside Mamma Mia’s Christine Baranski.

In the film, Baranski plays Regina Fuller, a wealthy, embittered woman who returns to her hometown in the wake of her father’s death to evict its residents before the holiday season.

Parton plays an angel who helps Regina find happiness and have a change of heart as she rekindles an old romance and meets the local community.

The film will feature 14 original songs from Parton, and is released November 22.

Ahead of the film’s release, Parton has released the song Christmas on the Square from her upcoming album A Holly Dolly Christmas, her first holiday album in 30 years.

On top of the Parton musical, Netflix have more holiday tricks up their sleeve, including a romantic comedy starring Emma Roberts.

The Holidate stars Roberts as a single woman named Sloane who hates the constant nagging from her family to find a partner.

When she meets Jackson (Luke Bracey), who faces a similar predicament, the pair promise to be each other’s “holidates,” accompanying each other on every special occasion over the next year - but inevitably, feelings get in the way of this convenient arrangement.

The Holidate arrives on Netflix on October 28.

For their third Christmas trick, Netflix will be releasing Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on November 13.

The film, 20 years in the making, follows an eccentric toymaker named Jeronicus Jangle and his granddaughter, Journey, as they work on a life-changing invention.

The film, directed by playwright and director David E. Talbot, stars Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key and Anika Noni Rose, and features music written by John Legend.

Lastly, on November 25, Netflix will release The Christmas Chronicles 2.

The sequel to 2018’s The Christmas Chronicles unites real-life couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn as Santa Claus and Mrs Claus.

The film picks up as a now-teenaged Kate unites with the Clauses to halt a troublemaker trying to stop Christmas.

The first film is currently available to stream on Netflix.
