A new snap from the film shared on Twitter shows Luther looking startled, as he holds his hands up in what looks like a bid to fend someone off.

Another shows the detective looking worried as he treks through the snow, clad in a shirt and tie and his familiar long coat.

Luther started in 2010 and there have been five series of the psychological crime thriller so far.

The TV show has been a huge hit and has won a raft of awards, and there was talk of a film for a long time before Netflix finally confirmed that it was on its way.

Fans could barely contain their excitement after Netflix shared the new details.
