Netflix viewers can't stop binge-watching new medical series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, which fans are claiming is "way better" than The Good Doctor.

Based on the web novel Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega and Hongbichira, the eight-part series follows the journey of Baek Kang-hyuk, a renowned trauma surgeon who joins a struggling university hospital.

His arrival shakes things up as his unorthodox methods and unwavering confidence clash with the team. However, he soon begins to form bonds with his colleagues, leading them to becoming a top-tier trauma unit.

Directed by Lee Do-yoon from a script by Choi Tae-kang, the series stars Ju Ji-hoon in the leading role alongside Choo Young-woo, Ha Young, Yoon Kyung-ho and Jung Jae-kwang.

The drama has impressed fans since its release on the streamer on January 24, with many bingeing through the episodes in quick succession.

Many viewers have since taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share their love for the series, with one writing: "After finishing trauma code, we definitely need more seasons. So good!!!"

"#TraumaCodeHeroesOnCall such a chaotic ride. It was one of the best medical series," another added, while a third said: "#TraumaCodeHeroesOnCall is excellent! I stopped it a few minutes in just so I could pay attention, it's so good. Even put the laptop down! Highly recommend this - good job #Netflix on airing this. Cast is doing an amazing job - love this show."

A fourth fan noted the show's relevance to society today, saying: "On point digging of hospital politics especially on budget cuts and understaffed doctors/nurses + the heartwarming and comedic scenes brought the show an impactful story to viewers. Adding Trauma code in the best Korean medical series list."

K-drama fans will be excited to hear that The Trauma Code is set in the same universe as fan-favourite series Hospital Playlist.

The first episode of the new drama features a subtle crossover when an announcement calls for Dr Ahn Jeong-won from the paediatrics department - one of the beloved characters from the 2020 series.

While fans are already clamouring for a second season of The Trauma Code, Netflix has yet to confirm a renewal - though its current popularity is already a good sign.
