Netflix viewers told they should 'run' to watch 'one of the saddest stories ever'
Netflix subscribers have been urged to watch a new 'bittersweet' documentary that tells 'one of the saddest stories ever.'
Released on New Year's Eve, Avicii: I'm Tim has quickly climbed into the streamer's most-watched charts and won over fans of the late DJ.
The 95-minute documentary explores the life of Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, detailing his rise to fame, before his tragic death in 2018.
Avicii narrates the film from his perspective and offers insight into his life away from the stage. The film also includes never-before-seen footage from the Swedish star's life and interviews with his colleagues, including Coldplay's Chris Martin.
The Stockholm-born hitmaker dominated the EDM scene in the 2010s with chart-topping hits like Wake Me Up and Levels. However, he faced health and addiction struggles behind the scenes.

As viewers tuned in to the tribute documentary, they took to social media to celebrate the musician's legacy and urge others to watch it.
On X, formerly Twitter, one enthused fan penned: "AVICII'S LAST SHOW AND HIS DOCUMENTARY ARE ON NETFLIX RUUUUUUN." (sic)
Another person wrote: "I have just finished watching 'I'm Tim' the new Avicii documentary on Netflix. It was very nicely put together and helps show the true genius and character of Tim Bergling. I recommend checking it out" with a third posting: "Avicii doc on Netflix... A must-watch." (sic)
Yet another person praised the film: "This Avicii 'I'm Tim' documentary that was just released on Netflix was absolutely incredible."
Others reflected on the DJ's struggles, with one X user writing: "Avicii's documentary on Netflix is one of the saddest stories I have ever watched."
Music enthusiasts also gathered on Reddit to praise the documentary, with one person admitting: "I really enjoyed the 'I'm Tim' documentary. Very well done.
"And to watch the last show after that was...bittersweet. Sad that Tim just wanted to make music and the success of his music became too much for him."
Currently ranked seventh on the streaming giant's top films chart, Avicii: I'm Tim was released alongside a concert special of his final show in Ibiza, titled Avicii: My Last Show.
The concert took place on August 28, 2016, at the famous party venue, Ushuaïa Hotel. Although 2016 saw his last performance, Avicii continued to create music for the next two years before tragically taking his own life in April 2018.
Avicii - I'm Tim and Avicii: My Last Show are streaming now on Netflix.
