Netflix's new serial killer mystery announces huge cast list
Detective Hole, the new Netflix series based on Jo Nesbø’s crime novels, has unveiled its stacked cast.
The new series will follow famed detective Harry Hole, who goes head-to-head with his long-term adversary and corrupt officer Tom Waaler, with the backdrop confused by a serial killer being on the loose.
Following the previously announced Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman and Pia Tjelta, Netflix has now unveiled the wider cast for the series, with Peter Stormare, Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Kåre Conradi, Simon Berger, Fridtjov Såheim and Eili Harboe all joining the ranks.

Additionally, Atle Antonsen, Manish Sharma, Henriette Steenstrup, Jesper Christensen, Kristoffer Joner, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Linn Skåber, Jonas Strand Gravli, Sonny Lindberg and Agnes Kittelsen have all signed onto the project, with many more faces set to appear.
“Created by one of the greatest storytellers in crime fiction, Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by famed anti-hero Harry Hole,” reads the logline for the show, which is set to premiere in 2026.
“Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler.
“Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

Hole was previously played on the big screen by Michael Fassbender in The Snowman, with the 2017 film also starring Rebecca Ferguson, JK Simmons, Val Kilmer, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Toby Jones.
The mystery, which was directed by Tomas Alfredson, saw the detective attempt to track down a serial killer in Oslo, with the perpetrator’s signature move involving the presence of snowmen at the crime scene.
Detective Hole airs on Netflix in 2026.
