A Ryde manufacturer is to make more than 100 people redundant, the Isle of Wight County Press has been told.

Staff at Neutrik, Westridge, have been told that 112 jobs - including 109 people in production and three in the warehouse - are to go in December.

In April, as previously reported by the County Press, Neutrik announced proposals to close its Ryde base and move to mainland Europe. A consultation had started and remains ongoing.

Today (Monday), one employee said they were waiting on tenterhooks and understood letters had been given to employee representatives to pass on, but they had not heard anything officially.

A staff member said the situation was a ‘total shambles.’

Neutrik previously blamed ‘recruitment, supply chain complexities and rapidly rising levels of global demand.'

The factory has often been at the centre of recent rumours about redundancy announcements.

A spokesperson from Neutrik said: "At this time Neutrik UK Ltd. remains focussed on the ongoing consultation process with company personnel.

"As previously stated, the company will not be making further announcements until the consultation process has been completed."
