Will Never Have I Ever have a spin-off series?
Never Have I Ever season four just dropped on Netflix and we’re back with Devi, Fabiola, Aneesa and the rest of the Sherman Oaks gang for some serious senior year drama. Trust us, it doesn’t disappoint.
The fourth (and final!) season of the hit comedy series, co-created by Mindy Kaling, sees Devi and her friends apply for college, go to prom, get in relationship and more. Of course, fans don’t want the show to end, so, will there be a Never Have I Ever spin-off series?
Warning, spoilers below!
What is Never Have I Ever About?
The Netflix comedy-drama series, co-created by Mindy Kaling, follows Devi Vishwakumar who is played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and is loosely based on Mindy herself. Devi is an Indian-American high school student who deals with friends, family and boys along with grief from the sudden death of her father.
Over the seasons, we see Devi go through the highs and lows of grief, choose between being with Paxton and Ben, deal with friendship drama and more.
Will there be a Never Have I Ever spin-off series?
While the show’s ending wrapped up the previous seasons quite well, there is still potential for a spin-off as our voiceover (from the one and only John McEnroe) narrates in the final scene, “This is John McEnroe live from Princeton, New Jersey, signing off. For now.” What does this mean?!
But, season four was the final season of the show, with Mindy previously telling E! that there won’t be more seasons seeing the characters through their college years. “Unfortunately, young people grow up and you can't be 17 forever,” she explained. “I'm really happy with where we ended with the stories and with the characters' growth.”
However, she hasn’t said a straight no to a spin-off. “I absolutely would consider doing that if there was a demand," she told PopSugar. "I've never thought about a spinoff actually. It's a fun thought experiment, but I haven't actually thought of one."
On which character she’d consider for a spin-off, Mindy said Trent played by Benjamin Norris. "Honestly, he's so funny to me," she said. "He really makes me laugh, so finding out [more about] Trent and seeing what his haircare routine is every morning. I would definitely watch that show. I'd definitely like to write that show."
So, let’s keep our fingers crossed!
