Twitter erupts after Zion Williamson's insane run in NBA debut

Though it took three quarters for him to get going, Zion Williamson didn’t disappoint in his NBA debut on Wednesday night.

Williamson dropped 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the New Orleans Pelicans’ 121-117 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the Smoothie King Center, marking his first game in the league. It was his late run, however, that basketball fans everywhere went crazy for.

Williamson recorded 17 straight points in just 3:08 in the fourth quarter, and looked nearly unstoppable.

After being forced to wait months to see the No. 1 overall draft pick make his debut, it only made sense that fans flocked to social media when he went off.

Many weren’t happy when Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry subbed Williamson out of the game, either.

The Williamson era in New Orleans, it seems, is back on track.
