New Zealanders Aren't Taking Their Flag Redesign Competition Very Seriously
This isn't a country afraid to poke fun at itself
The New Zealand Government have asked its citizens to get creative with a competition to redesign their national flag.
While some are in with a winning chance, others have slightly missed the point of the design contest.
New Zealanders have until July 16 to enter their flags, and it is clear this isn’t a nation afraid to poke fun at itself.
1. Fush & Chups
It's creator explained: 'The yellow motif represents the golden sun, and the golden chips of this fair land.'
2. Woolly or wont he
A flag 'that every New Zealander can agree to'
3. Fire the Lazar!
This one really speaks for itself.
4. Happy Kiwi
5. Nyan Kiwi
An amalgamation of the traditional New Zealand colours and themes and popular Youtube video 'Nyan Cat'. It's designer suggests: 'The Nyan theme music could also be used as fresh, and simpler, national anthem.'
6. Bicycle of NZ
'I believe it accurately represents the NZ people as hard working people from today on into the future.'
7. Sheep and Hokey Pokey
Because all of New Zealand loves sheep and hokey pokey ice cream - whatever that is.
8. Moa Flag
'Simple yet elegant' is all the description this one needs
9. 'The Happy NZflag'
Hannah Jackson believes this flag would really cheer up her fellow New Zealanders.
10. Pacific Fern
It is 'uniquely' New Zealand. Because it's upside down?
11. Clean Green Kiwiana
Because promoting New Zealand's clean and green environent is important.
12. Good flag
The smiling cloud is strong in this one
