New Newcastle Airport flights to Berlin announced as Eurowings launching service in May 2025
North East holidaymakers will have the option of flying to the German capital next summer after Eurowings launched a direct flight between Newcastle and Berlin.
The airline already serves the region with year-round flights to Düsseldorf and recently celebrated 10 years of flying from Newcastle Airport. The new twice-weekly service will be the only regular, direct flight to Berlin from the North East and Yorkshire regions.
Berlin was recognised as one of the best European city breaks by The Times, The Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveller this year. The city is home to historic monuments such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, and there is a vast array of attractions for families such as the city zoo and river cruises; while those looking for a quirky detour can even visit a museum dedicated to David Hasselhoff in the basement of the Circus Hostel.

Flights to Berlin Brandenburg start from May 1 and will fly every Thursday and Sunday, with seats already on sale starting at £44.99. It is the second service for summer 2025 that the airport has announced this week, after easyJet confirmed the return of its Newcastle to Malaga service from March 31.
Leon McQuaid, director of Aviation Development, said he was delighted to see further investment from Eurowings. He said: "Berlin has always been a popular destination for the North East travelling public and we have received lots of customer feedback asking for a direct service - so it is fantastic Eurowings is launching this new service next summer."
Reinald Frankewitz, head of airport and network relations at Eurowings, described the route as a real gain for passengers of both airports. He said: "The German capital with its eventful history and urban present is an exciting destination, and I am sure that many travellers from Berlin will use the convenient direct connection to explore the North East of England."
