The aroma of mulled wine is in the air and bratwurst is sizzling on the grill. Or, if you're not in the mood for that, how about a festive hot drink and some Chocolate Kisses?

Newcastle Christmas Market is back, offering all that and lots more, and shoppers are now enjoying their first taste of what's on offer. The city centre set-up, which really is bigger and better this year, opened this Saturday morning with a special ribbon-cutting event.

Customers will find they can pick up some unique gifts while treating themselves to an array of food and drink and, with more than 35 stalls to choose from, there no doubt will be something to suit everyone. But a key question for those planning a visit will be what are the prices like?
