Newcastle night club loved by celebrities closes for huge refurb as re-opening date confirmed

It's been one of the most popular clubs in Newcastle for nearly two decades now and Tup Tup Palace is undergoing a huge refurbishment, with its doors closing to customers for a few weeks to allow for the transformation to take place.

The much loved night spot, a big favourite with celebrities, launched back in 2007 and since then, as well as being a hit with locals, has also attracted plenty of famous faces. Stars to have partied at Tup Tup over the years include rappers 50 Cent, Kanye West and Snoop Dogg, Girls Aloud's Cheryl and her bandmates, Ed Sheeran, Love Island icon Molly Mae Hague and Katie Price.

The city centre haunt is also famous for being used as a filming location for Geordie Shore, with the cast often partying there as cameras rolled and Vicky Pattison famously quipping about how the kudos of getting in 'Tup Tup VIP' back in series one.

And now Tup Tup is getting ready to enter a new era, with a post going out on the venue's social media channels on Monday evening to confirm that it won't be open for a few weeks and teasing what was in store. The post read: "PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. Tup Tup Palace will temporarily close and reopen on Friday 13th September for our biggest refurbishment to date!"

The post added: "Over the next few weeks we’re going to take a look back over the last 17 years and some of the iconic moments that have made us the most famous boutique nightclub in the North of England Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates, throwback stories and what you can expect from the next episode!"
