Newcastle player ratings: Substitute that could save millions man of the match and unsung hero
Newcastle United earned a point at the Vitality Stadium but were spared late heartbreak after VAR saved them against the Cherries.
It looked like Dango Ouattara had nicked it for the Cherries after his towering effort beat Nick Pope but the goal was chalked off for a handball. That would have been harsh on Newcastle after Anthony Gordon's equaliser had pegged Eddie Howe's team back after a poor first half.
Marcus Tavernier's opener had been a reflection of a first half in which Newcastle struggled to get going. But Newcastle were much happier with the point at the final whistle.

Here's how Newcastle players rated at Bournemouth:
Nick Pope 8
On hand to make some crucial saves in both halves as Bournemouth rained in 16 goal attempts. An unsung hero.
Tino Livramento 5
Simply can't afford any average displays with Trippier around. Half-hearted attempt at tracking back to allow Tavernier to tap home.
Emil Krafth 7
Battled and scrapped for the cause in an honest display.
Dan Burn 6
Some big moments and almost scored, but left himself on thin ice after yellow card.
Lloyd Kelly 6
Will get better game by game but shown a clean pair of heels a couple of times.
Joelinton 6
A mixed day with the Brazilian risking a red card late on. Almost powered home a header but also gave the ball away for the opener.
Bruno Guimaraes 7
Some risky challenges as he battled hard but not his best display.
Sean Longstaff 6
Did not look surprised when his number came up.
Jacob Murphy 4
Struggled to make any type of impact underlining the need for another right winger. Didn't manage an accurate cross.
Anthony Gordon 7
Much better after the break as he got his head down and ran at the Bournemouth defence. A deserved equaliser.
Alexander Isak 8
Despite not getting on the scoresheet he was Newcastle's main attacking threat. The goals will come.
Subs
Harvey Barnes 8 (for Murphy 55)
Made a big difference when he came on and change the game in many ways. A wonderful cross for the equaliser. Did enough to be star man in the end.
Kieran Trippier 8 (for Livramento 55)
Newcastle looked a different side when he came on. Helped reorganise a shaky looking United. Despite playing just 33 minutes put in more crosses than anybody in a white shirt (eight).
Lewis Hall 6 (for Kelly 69)
Battled hard and helped Newcastle to the point.
Joe Willock 7 (for Longstaff 69)
Made a difference.
Miguel Almiron (for Gordon 89)
*Subs must play 15 minutes to gain a mark.
