Newcastle United fans facing disruption for Crystal Palace match as Kings Cross closed for engineering works
Newcastle United fans heading for London face travel disruption for next weekend's Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
The Magpies take on the Eagles at Selhurst Park at 3pm on Saturday, November 30. However, engineering works in London Kings Cross area will see the station closed for the entire weekend, meaning there are no direct train services between Newcastle and the capital.
Network Rail is renewing the track, overhead wires and signalling on the approach to Kings Cross; and building a new tunnel north of Peterborough. It is hoped that this will remove timetable constraints caused by slower freight trains crossing over the East Coast Main Line, which runs between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross.
