Newcastle United fans travelling to Wimbledon for Carabao Cup offered rail refund after match postponed
Newcastle United fans who were due to travel to Wimbledon for Carabao Cup have been offered a rail refund after the match was postponed on Monday.
Significant flooding at the Cherry Red Records Stadium resulted in tomorrow's match between Wimbledon AFC and Newcastle United being called off, leaving fans disappointed ahead of the capital clash.
In a statement, Newcastle said: "Tomorrow's Carabao Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon has been postponed following extensive overnight flooding at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. Further details will be announced in due course."

Wimbledon added: "We regret to inform fans that due to extensive overnight flooding of the River Wandle and surrounding areas, including at our stadium, our cup match tomorrow is postponed."
Many fans had booked travel to the game. But following news of the postponement, train operator LNER is offering fans who booked direct an e-voucher refund or the opportunity to rebook their journeys.
The offer applies to all ticket types, including Advance tickets, which are not usually refundable. Fans are advised to use the LNER app or website, and on the booking scroll down to “request a refund”. Alternatively they can call 0345 7 225 333.
LNER’s Commercial Director, David Flesher, said: “We were shocked to see the terrible flooding at Wimbledon AFC’s stadium. We know many Newcastle fans were travelling to the game with LNER, so we’re pleased to be able to offer this refund, or the opportunity to rebook their journeys to those who booked directly with us on our app, our website, by phone or in person at one of our stations.”
