Newcastle United linked with PSR bargain, £60m fee set for Pedro Neto and Minteh latest

Newcastle United are spinning plates when it comes to both incoming and outgoing business in the early stages of this summer's transfer window.

It feels inevitable that there will be at least one departure before June 30 due to the upcoming PSR checks from the Premier League. But Eddie Howe will be fighting on behalf of the football department at St James' Park to ensure he is well equipped for arguably his biggest challenge yet as Toon boss.

Here's the latest glance through the transfer stories making the headlines at home and around Europe.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The Everton striker, 27, is heading into the final year of his current deal at Goodison Park and his contract situation coincides with the Toffees' dire need to do some business before June 30. The Merseyside club don't need to be told that they need to keep finances in good order after being docked points last season.

They survived that affair, but must now bring in some cash and rival clubs are trying to take advantage of that. Interest in Calvert-Lewin is not new and there is truth in the fact that Eddie Howe likes him as a player.

Sources at Finch Farm have played down talk that a sale is close but there is no denial that there is interest from Brentford, West and the Magpies as per a report in the Daily Telegraph. A suggestion that talks for a price are under way are now circulating but there's been no word from Newcastle yet.

Pedro Neto

The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger was a player Eddie Howe admitted to liking last season and has described him as a "dangerous" opponent in the past. Wolves want £60m for the star who yielded nine assists and three goals for the Molineux club last season.

Both United and Man City have an interest and this is the type of signing that Newcastle fans would love to see.

Yankuba Minteh

As reported by Chronicle Live today Minteh's representatives are in talk with a clutch of clubs. The likes of AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille are all in the hunt, while there's also believed to be interest from Everton and Liverpool.

Newcastle want a fee of £40m for his services despite the player not making a single appearance for the Magpies.
