Newcastle United, Liverpool and Spurs linked with cut-price move for €32m rated Dutch star

Newcastle United have been linked with a cut-price move for Dutch international defender Lutsharel Geertruida - but the Magpies will have to fend off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham among others if they want to land the Feyenoord star.

Geertruida could be set to leave the Eredivisie club this summer after failing to agree a contract extension. His current deal expires next summer, but it's thought the Dutch side would be willing to sell now rather than risk losing him for nothing this time next year.

He has been called into the Holland squad for this summer's European Championships in Germany after a strong season in Rotterdam. He was close to a €32m move to RB Leipzig in January but the deal broke down and he remained with Feyenoord, helping them to second place in the table and winning the KNVB Cup.

The versatile defender is comfortable anywhere across the backline, although has featured predominantly at right-back - a position Newcastle don't need to strengthen with Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento already at the club. Geertruida starred under now Liverpool-boss Arne Slot last season, alongside Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh.

However Algemeen Dagblad report United have joined a growing list of clubs interested in the 23-year-old, with West Ham and clubs from France and Germany also said to be monitoring his situation. The Magpies are closing in on a deal to sign Lloyd Kelly from AFC Bournemouth, but have seen Tosin Adarabioyo opt to join Chelsea after leaving Fulham on a free.

Geertruida is expected to make clear plans on his future following Euro 24, with reports in Holland suggesting incoming Feyenoord manager Brian Priske is not expecting him to be at the club for much longer.
