Wolverhampton Wanderers twice come from behind to hold Newcastle United to a draw at Molineux. Callum Wilson scored the Magpies’ goals in the first-half but both were cancelled out by Mario Lemina and Hee Chan Hwang.
Eddie Howe made one enforced change from the 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund with Alexander Isak, out with a thigh injury, replaced by Wilson.
And further injuries to the likes of Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman and Elliot Anderson saw a weakened bench with Matt Targett the only player to start a Premier League game this campaign.
Despite the depleted look of the squad, the Magpies took the lead in the 22nd minute when Jose Sa failed to gather Anthony Gordon’s cross and Wilson found the net with an acrobatic effort.
Wolves equalised when Mario Lemina headed home from a corner but it didn’t take the visitors long to get their noses back in front - in controversial style.
Referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot when Fabian Schar went to ground under a challenge from Hee Chan Hwang. A lengthy VAR check followed and the penalty stood, which Wilson converted, despite Jose Sa getting a hand to it.
Wolves appealed for a penalty moments later for a handball on Bruno Guimaraes and the decision not to point to the spot left the home fans raging at half-time.
United, however, were unable to hold out as Hee Chang Hwang struck on 70 minutes.
