Newcastle United transfer rumours with Everton linked with shock move after Pickford decision
Newcastle United could face surprise interest in goalkeeper Nick Pope in the January transfer, with Everton reportedly reading to make an offer for the England shot-stopper.
According to the Sun, Toffees boss Sean Dyche is ready to ditch former Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford and attempt to bring Pope to Merseyside. Dyche worked closely wth Pope at Burnley and has remained a big fan of the Newcastle goalkeeper.
Whether Eddie Howe and United would enterain any bid for Pope at this stage seems doubtful, with the 32-year-old a key part of the current side. Newcastle sorely missed him during his lengthy spell on the sidelines last season, when a shoulder injury and subsequent surgery ruled him out for almost six months.

However, the Magpies have been strongly linked with Burnley keeper James Trafford, although they have been unable to agree on a valuation with the Clarets. Whether a successful January move for the England Under-21 keeper could mean a change of mind on Pope remains to be seen, but he remains very much Newcastle's first choice.
United signed John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos over the summer, but Martin Dubravka has continued to be the main back-up to Pope, with Ruddy replacing the Slovakian on the bench when he was ruled out with concussion.
Meanwhile, United have also been credited with interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush. The forward was on the verge of a £20m switch to Nottingham Forest in August, but that deal collapsed when the German outfit upped their asking price.
Now the Mirror report that Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool are considering a January bid for the Egyptian, who is keen to follow big pal Mo Salah to the Premier League. The 25-year-old has three goals in three Bundesliga appearances already for Frankfurt this season, but could well be the subject of bids again in January.
