Newcastle United transfer state of play as Crystal Palace deal could unlock £70m Marc Guehi deal
Crystal Palace are closing in on a move for Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix as Newcastle United continue to push for Marc Guehi.
Palace have already lost Joachim Andersen to Fulham with Eagles boss Oliver Glasner stating he hoped for "good news" in terms of incoming signings. And while Glasner is keen to hold on to £70million-rated centre-back Guehi, he has received no assurances on whether he will definitely be able to keep the 24-year-old.

Palace have agreed a £17.7m deal for Lacroix and Newcastle fans will hope that this softens the Croydon club's resolve when it comes to Guehi. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has been pushing for Guehi's services for over a month.
As reported by Chronicle Live on Monday it has been the structure of the £70million deal that has held up the Guehi deal so far. Glasner had said: "Nice try! You know that I am 50 tomorrow and I think I have one wish, and that is that I don't have to answer questions about the transfer window so you can decide if you give me a gift or not."
Then speaking on his approach each day in the transfer window in general, Glasner added: "When it is 12pm I don't think about the transfer window and when I get to the training ground I hope for good news."
Palace are closing in on a transfer of their own in Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah with a deal that could be worth up to £30m set to be pushed through.
