Newcastle's Summer Lovin' festival to go ahead after weather warning as set times released

As Storm Lillian causes concerns for music fans at both Leeds Festival and Creamfields, organisers of the Summer Lovin' event in Newcastle have conformed it WILL go ahead., with set times for both days now revealed.

Sadly, the forecast for some dire weather for the start of the August Bank Holiday proved to be spot on, with high winds battering both Branham Park, the home of Leeds Festival and the Cheshire site where Creamfields is, prompting organisers of both to issue urgent advice to ticket holders already there, as two stages were scrapped at Leeds.

A whole host of events are set to take place in Newcastle over the course of the next few days, with Dog on the Tyne, Noughty 90s Fest and Pride in Gateshead all set to pull large crowds and Summer Lovin' has recruited music legends UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Marti Pellow for its concerts at Leazes Park on Friday, August 23 and Sunday,. August 25,.

And the good news for anyone with tickets to either or both days is that they will go ahead, with a post on Facebook on Friday lunchtime confirming all was good to go. The statement read: "Remember, the doors open and music starts from 4pm Due to incredible demand, we really advise you arrive early to avoid significant queues. So set your alarms, book your taxi and we will see you there! Last entry is 7pm."

The stage times for Friday are as follows: 4pm: Bannerworx, 5.30pm: Marley Experience, 6.45pm: M Dot R, 7.30pm: David Rodigan and 9pm: UB40 featuring Ali Campbell.

Wet Wet Wet icon turned solo artist and stage star Marti will top the bill at Leazes Park on Sunday, with him supported by the likes of You Might Need Somebody singer Shola Ama, Omar and the Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra. The set times are: 4pm: Dan Harding, 6pm: Omar, 7pm: Shola Ama, 8pm: Marti Pellow and 9.30pm: Symphonic Ibiza.
