Newly Released Video Shows Crash Site of US Military Plane in Afghanistan

The US military confirmed on Monday, January 27, that an E-11A aircraft crashed in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, but denied claims by the Taliban that it was shot down.

“While the cause of crash is under investigation, there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire,” tweeted US Forces-Afghanistan spokesman Col Sonny Leggett. “We will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

The plane crashed in territory under Taliban control. It was initially reported that the plane belonged to Ariana Afghan Airways, but the airline denied that one of its planes had crashed. Taliban-linked accounts later circulated video of the E-11A on social media. Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
