A newlywed Brazilian caregiver was the victim of a homicide, and authorities allege she was killed after refusing to kiss a co-worker.

The body of Cintia Ribeiro Barbosa, 38, was found on a property next to the house where she worked in Goiânia, Brazil, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, a day after she was killed, according to reports from Brazilian news outlets Metrópoles, g1 and UOL, which cite local authorities.

The outlets, citing authorities, all report that her co-worker, Marcelo Junior Bastos Santos, confessed to the murder, allegedly saying that he strangled Ribeiro to death after she refused to kiss him.

Ribeiro worked as a caregiver for elderly people, as did Bastos Santos. A video of his alleged confession was published by g1.

Bastos Santos reportedly said he had tried to kiss Ribeiro, a mother of four children, who refused and slapped him, g1 reported. He allegedly responded by strangling her using a chokehold, according to the reported confession.

The suspect then allegedly used diaper tape to tie Ribeiro’s hand, according to the outlets. UOL reported that after she had died, Bastos Santos allegedly threw her body over the wall and hid it at the unoccupied property next door to the house where they cared for an elderly couple.

It is not immediately clear if Bastos Santos has been officially charged.

Police began searching for Ribeiro after she was reported missing by her husband, whom she had married just eight days before her death, g1 reported.
