Newmains woman thanked by niece for helping family through heart-breaking loss
A Newmains woman has been thanked by her niece for keeping their family together despite heart-breaking losses.
Tracy Campbell has paid tribute to her aunt Catherine Watson for looking after her mum Jennifer during her cancer ordeal.
Tracy said: “Catherine’s husband, my uncle Ian, passed away from cancer over 10 years ago.
“She nursed him herself all through his cancer diagnosis, treatment and all the way to his final breath.
“My mum Jennifer got diagnosed with cancer five years ago and even though she had went through all that with her husband, Catherine was by my mum’s side, visits for a cuppa, going out for lunch, day trips to Ayr and Burntisland and weekends away.
“Catherine was with my mum a good five days out of seven every week just making sure she had what she needed and gave her such great company.
“Catherine always made sure my mum didn’t sit alone and would also make many hour-long phone calls at night when it was the quiet time for my mum.”
When Tracy told us about Catherine’s resilience despite everything she’s been through we were delighted to present her with these beautiful flowers courtesy of our friends at Pixie’s Petals.

Tracy added: “I would love Catherine to get these flowers as a small thank you from our family to her for everything she done for our mum through her hardest of days, she’s an absolute gem.
“She did all that for my mum while having her own house and family to look after.
“She also volunteers to work in the St Andrew’s Hospice charity shop in Wishaw.
“She is just an amazing person. Every family needs someone like Catherine to help you through the most difficult of times.”
