Benedict Cumberbatch might be about to star in one of the greatest sci-fi franchises of all time but the Star Trek star has confessed he much prefers cheesy TV over geek friendly telly.
Benedict will be seen on the big screen next month in Star Trek Into Darkness where he plays villain John Harrison. The Sherlock actor though has confessed he's never been much an obsessive Trekkie:
"[There's] not very much [sci-fi I like],' says Benedict, 36. "I obviously have a latent fan fixation with Star Trek because of how thrilled I was when everyone got together in the first reboot."

Instead of settling down for some sci-fi, Cumberbatch much preferred a bit of cheesy US drama when he was growing up:
"I never was obsessive about anything I watched when I was a kid, except maybe The A-Team and Airwolf," the star tells SFX Magazine.
"And I loved Knight Rider and then later Baywatch."
Who would've thought it!
Poor Benedict hasn't had much time to catch up on his favourite telly shows recently though as the actor has been hitting the gym to prepare for his role as John Harrison.
The dedicated star "intensely shape-shifted" to fill out the role, going from a size 38 chest to a 42 for the movie.
