Chris Brown Police Reports 'Confused Over Who Threw First Punch In Assault Case'

Chris Brown is due in court later today in Washington D.C. after being arrest for felony assault charges following an altercation in the early hours of Sunday morning. If convicted the star could face up to four years in jail as he's currently on probation for another felony assault in 2009 against ex girlfriend Rihanna.

But according to TMZ there's confusion over who exactly threw the first punch in the fight with police reports giving conflicting accounts, a new report claims. Sources reportedly told the website the first report claimed Chris' bodyguard, who was also arrested on assault charges, was the person who first punched the alleged victim.

The alleged victim broke his nose in the alltercation, with the report claiming it was the punch thrown by the bodyguard who did the damage and it was only afterwards that Brown became involved in the fight.

However, the website goes on to claim a revised copy claims it was Brown who broke the unidentified man's nose.

They also claim law enforcement sources have alleged statements from witnesses, Chris, the bodyguard and alleged victim may not be the correct version of events. The altercation took place outside of the Washington Hotel in the US capital at 4:30am on Sunday morning.

If there are conflicting reports about what went on, TMZ claims it could work in the favour of Brown who remains in police custody following his arrest.
