David Tennant Tries His Best At A US Accent In First Trailer For Broadchurch's US Remake Gracepoint

Fox's remake of Broadchurch has unveiled its first trailer, which sees David Tennant trying out his best US accent.

US audiences will get their own version of the smash hit UK crime drama when it airs this autumn, and judging by the first trailer there doesn't seem to be too many differences between the new show and its ITV predecessor.

With the action moved to northern California (the 10-part series was actually shot in Canada), the teaser sees Danny Latimer's mum running toward the beach, echoing the chilling opening scenes of the Brit series.

Anna Gunn and David Tennant star in Gracepoint

Tennant once again plays the outsider cop who comes into the close-knit community to help solve the murder of Danny, whose body is found on the beach.

This time though David is sporting a new name, Emmett Carver, and a not entirely convincing accent. While Olivia Colman is nowhere to be seen, Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn plays the role of Ellie Miller. Michael Peña also stars as Danny's dad.

With more than seven million viewers tuning into the ITV original last spring to find out whodunnit, it was announced yesterday that Tennant and Colman will both be back for a follow-up series in the UK. Writer Chris Chibnall will return to the show as executive producer.
