Britain’s Got Talent favourite David Walliams has been cast in a new “sexual production” of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The Little Britain star has been cast as ‘Bottom’ opposite Sheridan Smith who will play ‘queen of the fairies’ Titania with director Michael Grandage promising a new approach to the Shakespearean classic.
"When I met Sheridan and David, I said 'Let's make it a really, absolutely sexual production," he told the Daily Mail.
For those not up to scratch on their Shakespeare, the comedian’s character will play the fool, ‘Bottom’ whose head gets turned into a donkey by naughty fairy Puck.
The play is right up David’s street as he is known for playing for laughs. The star made quite an impression when he joined the judging panel of Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, and had viewers in stitches, especially for his bromance with Simon Cowell.
He even took to the stage himself and performed with cabaret act the ‘Show Bears’. The production will spend 14 months at the Noel Coward theatre in London’s West End. We can’t wait!
