Jessica Simpson may have been open about her struggles to lose the baby weight, but this is one piece of information she has not shared.
The Weight Watchers spokeswoman was in such need to shed the pounds, she consulted doctors to go under the knife to get the lap band, but was turned away, according to RadarOnline.com.
"After having her daughter Maxwell, Jessica felt there was no way she could ever lose the weight on her own because she has struggled so much in the past and her post partum weight seemed to be growing," a pal that’s close to Simpson told the website. "So like a true Hollywood girl, she sought out a quick surgical fix - lap band surgery!"
Health professionals told the 32-year-old Fashion Star mentor that her quick solution for weight loss was not the answer, telling her to get the opinion of a couple of doctors.
“[Jessica] was persuaded to keep pushing to do it the natural way," said her friend.
So the answer for not undergoing surgery? Simpson has been burning off those calories with workout session with celebrity to the stars Harley Pasternak, and also abiding by her Weight Watchers eating regimen.
"There is a lot of pressure to lose weight but I’m not a supermodel,” Simpson recently confessed to USA Today.
The fashion mogul’s friend’s also feared her worries over her weight would cause her to get post partum depression, which the mother did not get.
"She has had to deal with the blues in the past," the source added. "So everyone was thrilled that she has avoided PPD. With the doctors' words and her friends' encouragement, she is finally shedding the pounds without surgery!"
