One Direction have hit back at the 'other' One Direction, the US band who claimed that they were using the name before the X Factor stars created it in 2010 and are now suing them.
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' lads are apparently fighting back against a claim from an American band that they stole their name. The unfamous One Direction had sued the Brits, who rose to global fame after being discovered by Simon Cowell on The X Factor, claiming that they had stolen their name and used it to become global superstars.
Now according to TMZ.com the boys are hitting back with a lawsuit of their own, saying that they had the coveted name first and that the American unknowns are just trying to get famous by stealing their band's name.
It's all terribly confusing but two things are important. Firstly tales of One Direction courtroom bust-ups are likely to be with the other lot, and we have at least a decade of the boys to go before it all begins to get bitter. Secondly, if One Direction do lose then they may be forced to change their name, as 2011 X Factor winners Little Mix were after their original name 'Rythmix' drew legal complaints from a children's charity.
