'Her Face Just Won For Frozen:' Twitter In Shock Over Kim Novak's Appearance At The Oscars

Kim Novak sent Twitter into meltdown last night when the Hollywood legend made a rare appearance at the Oscars to present a gong.

The 81-year-old actress joined Matthew McConaughey to present Best Animated Short Film and Best Animated Feature Film at the beginning of the ceremony. The actress struggled to read out her lines but was helped by a gallant Matthew. It was her looks that had everyone talking online though.

Novak, who is best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 film Vertigo, caused a stir with many questioning the star's surgery choices while others rushed to her defence.

The running joke seemed to be linked to the award Kim was presenting, with one Twitter critic quipping: "Kim Novak's face just won for "Frozen"."

Others were quick to slam those who took aim at the veteran actress though with one fan declaring: "Kim Novak deserves our respect & did just fine. Her co presenter was the gentleman she deserves".

Another pointed out that at least the star, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, hadn't taken a tumble: "YOU KNOW WHAT GUYS KIM NOVAK IS 81 AND SHE DIDNT FALL DOWN TWICE UNLIKE SOME OTHER PEOPLE I KNO". Ouch!

Meanwhile another devotee was keen to stress just how beautiful Hitchcock's leading lady was at her peak:

Actress Rose McGowan had another bone to pick as she hit out at the A-list audience who failed to give Novak a standing ovation when she took to the stage: “Kim Novak! No standing ovation?! Self-obsessed and disrespectful, that sums up the Oscar audience,” Rose raged.
