Fangoria are one of the most glamorous bands in Spanish pop.
Core duo Alaska and Nacho Canut formed Fangoria from the ashes of their legendary 1980s groups Kaka de Luxe, Dinarama and Pegamoides. Coming together in 1989, the band members moved away from their position in the limelight in order to work with independent record labels and explore different creative spectrums. Their sound evolved into a dazzling combination of glamorous pop and heavy electronic music.
It was 1999 album Una Temporada En El Infierno (A Season in Hell) released on independent label Subterfuge which marked the band's resurgence into the mainstream. This was quickly followed by next album Naturaleza Muerta (Still Life) which also met with enormous critical and commercial applause. Their technicolour formula- a mixture of pop culture references, dazzling outfits and electronic pop, was proving a success. The group have gone on to play sold out shows at massive venues such as the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid and make consistent festival appearances, including Spains' biggest summer festival Benicassim.
Eleventh album Cuatricromia (Four-colours) will be released this year and features four EP length discs- each color coded and themed around a different genre. Blue for pop, magenta for rock, yellow for electronica and black for their darker material. The band worked with a different producer for each colour, giving all of the discs a distinct sound tied together by the glamtastic pop songwriting of Fangoria.
