Glee's Jane Lynch Lands Job Hosting New Year's Eve Show With Carson Daly

Glee’s Jane Lynch has confirmed she will be hosting the exciting New Year’s Eve countdown show with former MTV presenter Carson Daly on December 31.

She shared that she’ll be braving the cold but is thrilled nevertheless because she has heard great things about what the job can bring.

It will be the tenth episode in as many years.

"I'll be in the mix of it," she told E! News. "I'm going to be freezing my butt off like everybody else. "They say it's a real experience so I'm looking forward to doing it."

Jane and Carson’s NBC programme will rival that of comedienne Kathy Griffin and news anchor Anderson Cooper on CNN.

She joked that there will be some competition between the networks that night.

"I'm going to be calling Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper over all the time," she laughed.

"We're going to have a friendly war going on."

Jane has been taking advantage of her Glee fame by hosting VH1's DoSomething Awards in 2010 and then the Emmy Awards.

She also branched out to Broadway in May playing Miss Hannigan in a revival of Annie.

The actress revealed her gig in New York’s City’s Time Square to end 2013 and start 2014 with a bang as she was honoured with the Hero Award at the Trevor Project's TrevorLive benefit.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy and her Best In Show costar Jennifer Coolidge did the honours and the cast of Glee serenaded her with Smile at the bash held by a nationwide helpline for LGBT youth.

"I'm really humbled by this," Jane said. "This is a big deal. I love what these people have been doing for 15 years and I'm in awe of the fact that it's all volunteers and of all the kids who pick up the phone who have the guts to do that.

“It's a night about love and commitment. I'm so honoured to be a part of it."
