Heidi Montag doesn't strike us as a simple person dragged into the world of fame and reality TV like a 21st Century 'Lonesome' Rhodes, but apparently the reality star has been wronged by the industry that has handsomely paid her, as appearing on The Hills "almost destroyed" her.
Since appearing in all 6 series of The Hills and embarking on one of the maddest plastic surgery sprees since socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein turned herself into a significant branch of the plastics industry, not many have had too much sympathy with Montag, despite the surgery causing her difficulties.
Yet apparently we've misjudged the sometime singer; really she's just a humble girl who, alongside hubby and castmate Spencer Pratt, was playing a part that went too far.
The 25 year-old told Celebuzz: "I'll never be able to be Heidi Montag, a normal person, again… [Spencer and I] are not those people on The Hills anymore. We never were. It was more an acting role than anything else. But we played those characters and when you start playing a character you kind of start to become more of a character…"
“I didn’t realize that pretending to be this ‘Hills Heidi,’ this spoiled rich girl who I wasn’t, would almost destroy me… I’m from really humble beginnings. I’ve never been this Hollywood diva, but you get caught up in what you’re pretending to be.”
The reality star does in her own way have a point; now the world knows her as the one from The Hills who went crazy under the knife, she won't go back to being a normal person, but one would've thought that would've been blindingly obvious before getting on camera.
Still we fully support Heidi's return to anonymity and humbleness, may it happen as soon as possible.
