Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge 'Snubs Society Wedding For Antique Shopping'

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly decided not to attend the wedding of Lady Melissa Percy and Thomas van Straubenzee in Northumberland, where hubby Prince William was on best man duties but that doesn't mean the mum to be wasn't keeping busy as she was spotted out antique shopping on Saturday afternoon.

According to insiders, Kate made the last minute decision not to attend the society wedding of the year, with guest including Prince Harry and his girlfriend Cressida Bonas, Princesses Eugiene and Beatrice as well as Kate's sister Pippa Middleton, in case she went into labour.

A close source to the Royal couple told The Sun Kate decided not to go to Northumberland for the wedding after discussing the trip with her aides.

An insider claimed: "The birth may be a few weeks off, but there is still a very slim risk she could go into labour.

"Kate is gutted - as are Tom and Melissa - but she decided not to take any chances."

But clearly the 31 year-old, who is due to give birth in mid-July, wasn't going to spend her day with her feet up and was pictured shopping in Hungerford according to Marie Claire. The brunette was reportedly spotted shopping for antiques in the town just 30 minutes away from her parent's home of Bucklebury, Berkshire.

It was confirmed last week that Kate would be splitting her time between her London residence and her parent's home in Berkshire in the final weeks before the baby arrives. Royal sources reportedly claimed that in the event the Duchess should go into labour during one of these visits, the Royal Berkshire hospital is on standby to receive the important patient.

The Duchess has been spotted shopping for furnishings over the last few months and with both her and William's new apartments at Kensington Palace and their private residence on the Queen's Sandringham estate, Amner Hall to decorate, we're not surprised.

She's also been spotted at a string of baby boutiques as she gets ready for the arrival of her first child. But if any hint was taken from her purchases as to whether she's expecting a boy or a girl, looks like they're wrong as it was claimed last week the royal couple have no idea whether they're expecting a boy or a girl and are waiting to find out when the babe arrives in the next few weeks.
