Katy Perry Named Billboard's Woman Of The Year, Was She The Right Choice?

Katy Perry is one of the most loved musicians around at the moment and it seems that the public love her even more after she sprang back from her split from husband Russell Brand instead of moping around the house.

The singer beat of the likes of Adele and Nicki Minaj to be named Billboard's Woman of The Year.

Her 'Woman Of The Year' acheivemt comes after the release Perry's documentary 'Part Of Me' which documented her personal and professional ups and downs.

After selling over 48 million tracks, the 'Firework' singer has a huge legion of fans known as "katycats" on Twitter and Facebook.

Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde said in a statement that Perry was chosen for her achievements in the past 12 months, calling her "one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry".

"Katy Perry broke into the industry not even five years ago, and has already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in an entire career," he added.

Perry will receive the award at the 2012 Billboard Women in Music event in New York on November 30.
