Katy Perry's Music Sees Massive Sales Surge Following Film Release

Her first film might not be lighting up the box office but sales of Katy Perry's music have sky-rocketed following the release of 'Part of Me 3D'.

Sales of the singer's music in the US in the week following the release of her film increased by a massive 451%. Katy's second studio album 'Teenage Dream' scored the highest increase in sales as it climbed its way to number two on the US Billboard 200 chart.

According to Hits Daily Double, the album sold 76,555 copies over the past week, despite it being almost two years since it was originally released.

The new figures will probably be a welcome boost for Katy after 'Part of Me' failed to live up to its expected success at the US box office. The film saw ticket sales $7,150,000 in its opening weekend. Now that sounds pretty good going to us but the movie only reached number seven in that weeks sales figures. Meanwhile, the movie reached number four on the UK box office chart and number six in Australia.
