Kim Kardashian's Engagement Ring From Kris Humphries Fetches $749,000 At Auction

Kim Kardashian's engagement ring, given to her by ex-husband Kris Humphries, has fetched $749,000 at auction in the US. The diamond ring was part of the 'Magnificent Jewels' auction at Christie's in New York on Tuesday.

Kim and Kris became engaged in May 2011, tying the knot just months later in August in a two miilion dollar wedding. However, wedded bliss didn't last that long and the couple split after jusy 72 days.

The ring, a 16.21-carat Lorraine Schwartz bauble according to the auction house's pre-sale estimate was a maximum of $500,000, so achieved well over what was expected.

A spokesperson told the website in a statement: "This impressive diamond ring was sought out by two bidders in the back of the room, one online bidder, and was ultimately won by a bidder on the phone."

A divorce wasn't settled between the pair until June this year, just two weeks before Kim gave birth to her daughter North, with rapper Kanye West. It's been rumoured Kim will soon become engaged for the third time to the Yeezus star, who she started dating in April 2012.

Whilst it was widely reported that Kris paid two million for the ring, because of the estimate of the Christie's jewellery experts, it appears that he paid far less than was thought. Christie's press representative Gabriel Ford told MailOnline that their team of experts "estimate on what they deem it worth at this time (of the auction)".

The auction house also specified that a portion of the ring’s sale will be donated to charity by the owner.
