Liam Payne Defends New Girlfriend Sophia Smith After Twitter Trolls Attack One Direction WAG

Liam Payne has taken to Twitter to defend his new girlfriend Sophia Smith after angry fans posted hurtful messages about the brunette after it was revealed she's in a relationship with the One Direction hunk.

Liam and Sophia, who went to school together, went public with their romance this week after reportedly beginning to date over the last few weeks following the Kiss You hunk's split from girlfriend of two years Danielle Peazer in May.

Like most girls who are linked to the 1D lads, Sophia was soon the target of Twitter trolls and was forced to delete some of her Instagram pics of her and Liam, according to The Mirror. Taking to Twitter to defend his new lady, Liam made it clear he wasn't too happy.

"Always sad to get on here to read horrible stuff about someone you care about," he wrote,  "There is that old saying tho if you ain't got s**t nice to say then f*** you,"

The new couple were much happier the night before and looked totally smitten as they were snapped hand-in-hand making their way into the swanky Sanderson hotel on Tuesday evening to toast the world premiere of the band’s movie held in Leicester Square yesterday.

The Little Things singer was the doting boyfriend on the night making sure Sophie - who seemed slightly shy about all the press attention - was well looked after.

The former student, who studied at St. Peter's Collegiate in Wolverhampton with Liam, looked elegant in a black shift dress and sky-high platform shoes, wearing her brown locks in soft tumbling curls. Meanwhile Liam looked equally dashing in a leather jacket, shirt and tie and black trousers.

Liam revealed that he was happily dating the brunette beauty at a press conference this week, admitting to a reporter that he was in a relationship when he confirmed: "Yes yes I do. she's sitting right over there *points to pretty brunette*. It's not been long."

The pair were also joined by fellow couples Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards, Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder and single, but chirpy Harry Styles and Niall Horan.

Earlier in the night 70,000 One Directioner flocked to Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of their idols at their movie premiere.
