Lil Wayne is planning a few surprises for his performance at this year's VMA's according to his musical director Gil Smith.

Weezy is recovering from an injury he had an accident last week while using a skateboard in a park. However, Gil says that won't stop the rapper and he may even be planning a skateboard stunt. "You know what? Knowing Wayne he might just stroll across the stage on a skateboard," he joked.

When pressed on what fans can expect from the rapper's performance, Gil said: "You know, he always come different: one day he's a rock star, one day he's a skater; he's singing R&B. I think we can expect a little bit of everything in this performance."

The Young Money Boss will be joined on stage by Beyonce, Adele, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown and Jessie J who will also be performing.

The VMA's are taking place this Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
