Lupita Nyong'o Reveals How Hard It Was To Keep Star Wars Episode VII Casting A Secret

Lupita Nyong'o has spoken out for the first time on her exciting new role in Star Wars Episode VII, setting the record straight on all those months of casting rumours.

The Oscar winner was announced as the newest member of JJ Abrams' movie yesterday, alongside Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.

As the news broke, Lupita was walking the red carpet at the CFDA Awards in New York, looking absolutely stunning as usual. E! News managed to grab a quick chat with the actress and asked her if the secret about her huge new role was hard to keep.

"Well no, there was a rumour some time ago that wasn't true so it wasn't hard to keep secret", Lupita explained in response to reports she's been in talks with Abrams for months.

"I was cast two weeks ago," she confirmed. "I'm glad it's out."

Lupita was busy tweeting her excitement after the big announcement was made on Monday, telling her followers: "I can finally say it out loud and proud: I'm going to a galaxy far far away!"

The star's new castmate John Boyega was one of the first to retweet the announcement, as he added to his Twitter fans: "Best kept secret! These women are going to be epic!"
