Margot Robbie's Road To Hollywood: From Ramsay Street To Wolf Of Wall Street

Margot Robbie has had a brilliant start to 2014 thanks to her break out role in Martin Scorsese's new big screen adventure The Wolf of Wall Street. Starring as Leonardo DiCaprio's gorgeous wife Naomi (or The Duchess as she's dubbed), the former Neighbours star has come a long way from Ramsay Street.

The Aussie beauty has received rave reviews for her performance in the Scorsese movie, which sees her strip down for raunchy sex scenes with Leo (well someone's got to do it) and engage in some fiery fight scenes, as stockbroker Jordan Belfort's (DiCaprio) debauched life crashes down around him.

At the tender age of 23, Margot has managed to break Hollywood but despite her tender years the talented actress has been putting in the work for years, on her way to overseas stardom.

Margot began her career back in 2007, starring in a couple of feature films and commercials back home in Oz before landing the role of Donna Freedman on Neighbours a year later.

The character was originally only a guest role, but the popular actress was soon promoted to a regular cast member, before announcing in September 2010, that she was leaving the beloved soap to try her luck in Hollywood.

Margot touched down in Los Angeles for the all important pilot season and while she narrowly missed out on a lead in the new series of Charlie's Angels, producers at Sony quickly signed her up instead for ABC drama series Pan Am.

Playing Laura Cameron, a newly trained flight attendant, there was huge hype surrounding the series which also starred Christina Ricci but despite relentless promotion the show was cancelled after one season due to falling ratings.

Undeterred Margot ploughed on and secured a role in Richard Curtis' acclaimed romantic comedy, About Time, before going on to shoot Wolf of Wall Street weeks later.

And the actress' star power just keeps on rising as it was recently announced that she's joined the cast of Matthew Michael Carnahan's upcoming film Violent Talent. Margot also recently completed work on Suite française, an adaptation of Irène Némirovsky's eponymous novel which will see her star alongside such talent as Michelle Williams and Kristen Scott Thomas.

Then there's her lead in upcoming comedy Focus, with the star's on-set friendship with co-star Will Smith hitting headlines last year, when photos were printed of the two at the movie's wrap party. The black and white images, which were taken in a photobooth on set, see Margo lifting up her top and getting close to a grinning Will.

The 23-year-old actress soon took to Twitter to slam reports in a US tabloid that there was something more than friendship going on.

"Been working nonstop, just catching my breath. There's absolutely no truth to the ridiculous rumor in Star mag. It's disappointing that goofing around on set could be taken so out of context."

We're sure we'll be seeing more of Margot on and off screen in 2014. The Wolf of Wall Street hits UK cinemas on January 17.
