Despite reviews for this year's effort that tended towards the unkind, comedian and actor Billy Crystal has said that he would love to return to host The Oscars in 2013.
Crystal told The AP that he would love to host the movie industry's biggest night for an incredible 10th time, saying: "I'm always willing to do it."
However he revealed that he was still waiting for the phone to ring (or not as the case may be), and if those watching the 2012 ceremony have their way, there's more chance of the Academy ringing Clint Eastwood and his chair to do the 2013 gig than calling Crystal.
He added: "We'll see what they decide, and if it's me, that's great, and if it's not, then good luck to whoever is going to do it."
However at the time a distinctly unimpressed Sarah Hughes in The Guardian wrote: "If Crystal had simply been dull, that would have been one thing. But in fact, his ninth appearance as host wasn't so much boring as unbelievably awkward and embarrassing."

This was perhaps one of the more generous reviews of a performance as host that saw him don blackface for one skit, not so much causing offence but general bemusement that the self proclaimed greatest show on Earth had resorted to it.
Some films are already being talked up as Oscar contenders, with Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master' and Ben Affleck's 'Argo' leading the chase out of Toronto.
Controversy was sparked however when the nominations for this year's awards were moved up to January 3rd, ahead of the Golden Globes.
Crystal helmed the Oscars for the first time in 1990 and returned to the job for the next three years consecutively.
The 2013 Academy Awards will be held on February 24.
