Oh Dot Will Be Pleased! EastEnders To Welcome Pauline McLynn As Charlie Cotton's Mum

The cast of EastEnders is getting bigger following the announcement that the hit BBC One soap have cast Father Ted actress Pauline McLynn as the mum of Dot Cotton's grandson, Charlie.

Actor Declan Bennett made his debut as Charlie in the soap when he delivered the news to Dot that Nick had died. And now Pauline's character Yvonne will be seen making an appearance on the Square in the not too distant future.

Speaking about her new role as a former flame of Nick Cotton, the Mirror reported Pauline saying:

"It is a thrill to join EastEnders, my favorite soap. In particular, any chance to be part of a Dot Cotton storyline is not to be passed up. June Brown is a legend and I feel privileged to act with her."

Happy to welcome Pauline, who has starred in Shameless, Dominic Treadwell-Collins, executive producer of EastEnders said:

"I have always been a little in love with Pauline McLynn so I'm so excited that she's joining the Cotton family.

“It was about time Albert Square had another Irish character and I know that viewers are going to both love and be intrigued by Yvonne Cotton."
