Plan B could be heading for movie stardom – after Oscar winning movie mogul Harvey Weinstein wined and dined the British musician and film maker on his yacht at Cannes.
Weinstein has built a reputation as a man who just can't stop winning Oscars for films he takes under his wing, his most recent successes being 'The Artist', which swept the board at this year's ceremony and T'he King's Speech', which won the best picture and best actor Oscars, as well as earning its star Colin Firth a best Actor gong.
Plan B, real name Ben Drew, is fast developing quite a reputation in the movie world, appearing with Michael Caine in 'Harry Brown' and the film adaptation of 70s cop show 'The Sweeney'. His directorial debut 'Ill Manors' is released next month.
The Sun reports that Weinstein is ready to work his Oscar winning magic with Plan B, throwing a lunch which he desperately wanted the singer and director to attend.
According to the paper a source said: “He was delighted when Plan B agreed to be on the guest list. Harvey is keen to work with him as he feels he has a real gritty talent.”
Plan B's new film is certainly gritty - featuring drug abuse, pimping and child trafficking. Yet Weinstein has built his success on championing hard bitten blockbusters as well as feel-good Oscar fodder, producing Quentin Tarrantino's 'Reservoir Dogs'.
If Weinstein gets behind the Londoner, it could see him in with a shout of Oscar success, as the producer is notorious for his campaigns, which reportedly have a huge influence on the judges of the Awards.
