In the last episode of the series, there were celebrations and tears as Geordie Shore original, Jay Gardner said an emotional farewell to the show, whilst loved-up couple, Vicky and Ricci waved farewell to singledom.
The group enjoyed their last evening together in Cancun, Mexico but while Jay dropped his emotional bombshell, Vicky and Ricci were crying tears of joy as Ricci popped the question with the help of an airplane.
In a fairytale proposal 25-year-old Ricci pulled out all the stops to surprise his girlfriend whilst they enjoyed a romantic al fresco meal away from the house.
Just in case everyone in Cancun didn’t know how in love Ricci was his extravagant proposal saw Vicky look up to the sky to see a plane pulling a banner with the message: 'Vicky will you marry me?'
Ricci then took the more traditional approach by getting down on one knee and telling 24-year-old Vicky: "I genuinely want to spend the rest of my life with you."
A gobsmacked Vicky appeared completely in shock by Ricci's surprise proposal and was brought to tears before saying: “I'm not the girl who gets proposed to by the man of her dreams. And all of a sudden I am that girl and I’m so so happy.”
While James stays true to Geordie Shore, saying: “We’re not the type to go and get married,” Vicky later declared ‘yes’ and said: ”This has to be the happiest I’ve ever felt in my life.”
Ricci has managed to calm a once fiery and outgoing Vicky and the pair hit it off within days despite Vicky having a boyfriend at the time.
Meanwhile after three series on the show, oldest of the house, Jay left the cast devastated as he revealed he is leaving the show for good to join the ‘real world’, he said: "This is me last night, and not just in Cancun, in Geordie Shore period."
The girls were moved to tears by Jay's sad news and his best friends, Gary and James, took the news hard, struggling to hold back their emotions, James said: “Everyone is in bits, no one expected this. All the girls are crying, Jay is even crying. It's like the worst news I've ever heard.”
A teary-eyed Holly sighed: “We’ve already lost Sophie, we’ve lost Vicky, Ricci and now Jay’s going.”
Even a distraught Gary, notorious for hiding his true feelings lost in his fight to hold back the tears and said: “I’m absolutely devastated. Imagining being here without Jay is just f***ing killing us,” whilst holding his head in his hands.
Meanwhile it was the end of another holiday romance between injured James and nurse Holly, as they leave the house busty Holly finally admitted: “I do have feelings for James but I’ve held them back.”
Gary and Charlotte’s long running relationship also took a turn for the worse as Gary ended up smashing up the villa and Charlotte mourns their previously close relationship, saying: “I can’t believe that Cancun’s over and so are me and Gary.”
Charlotte looks set to move on in the next series and claimed: “I don’t want Gary to be in my life anymore.”
We were promised ‘one hell of a holiday’ and the drunken romping, angry slaps and hardcore partying did not disappoint, but the added news of cast members leaving the show and a surprise engagement have changed the forecast for next series.
With Vicky and Ricci tying the knot, Holly and James loved-up and Jay leaving the house to settle down with his girlfriend, it seems the Geordie Shore house is becoming more of a romantic paradise than single and ready to mingle.
