There some good news for Russell Brand this morning: He will not go jail for breaking a paparazzo’s iPhone.
According to New Orleans Municipal Court spokesperson Baptiste Souquet, the late-night host of Brand X was arraigned Thursday before Judge Sean Early, and Russell cut a deal with the prosecutors.
Their deal consists of the case being dismissed if Brand pays $500 in court fee and performs 20 hours of community service by August 31.
Brand’s lawyer says the former drug-addict actor plans to realize his community service by working with individuals who are battling addiction.
The British actor and comedian was facing up to six months in prison when he was charged with a misdemeanor for throwing a paparazzo’s iPhone through a window back in March.
